A man trying to cross Interstate 4 near I-75 was hit by five cars and killed. There were heavy rains at the time and only one driver stopped. The victim is believed to be a 49-year-old man from Brandon. The pedestrian accident was witnessed by a couple that was working on their truck alongside the road.

FHP investigators said the man had reached the interstate’s center lane when an unknown vehicle struck him, knocking him back into the inside lane, where he was clipped by the mirror of 2004 Ford Taurus.

That sent him back into the center lane, where another vehicle, described only as dark in color, hit him. After that, two more vehicles, both traveling in the center lane, ran over the man, said an FHP news release.

The Florida Highway Patrol are investigating the accident and are searching for the other drivers and cars. They are asking eyewitnesses and anyone involved to step forward.
