The Holidays Are Not Alway Happy

Comments Off

It is that time of the year when thoughts about family seem to crowd out the usual brain waves. I know I will be enjoying the holidays with a new grandson who at age 10 months is already walking. His smile and laugh can light up my day.

But, because of the nature of my legal practice I know many of my clients cannot experience the holidays as they did before their injuries or the injuries to their loved ones. They may be in pain or short of money or trying to put on a brave face when their future looks grim. To them the holidays will be stressful and, oftentimes, unhappy reminders of what used to be.

My staff and I do not have a handy tool that can fix this problem. Even our best efforts to obtain full and just compensation from the wrongdoer and the wrongdoer’s insurance company will not completely resolve the situation. Pain and limitations often continue for a lifetime.

All we can do at this special time of year is to be on a high alert for emotional distress and to try to lessen it, if possible. We can listen for sadness or depression and help where we can. And, we can renew our determination to achieve the best result possible for each client.
