Web access to records eased

Florida’s high court loosened privacy restrictions on court records, allowing the public to access certain court documents online.

Administrative orders released Monday from the Florida Supreme Court will allow the public to access certain court documents on the Internet, loosening previous restrictions meant to protect individual privacy.

Records authorized for release include progress dockets, official records, traffic court records and all appellate court filings as well real property documents and civil cases involving state agencies as long as they have been first scoured of sensitive personal information, such as social security numbers.

But, don’t get too excited clicking on your mouse just yet. There are still a couple of details to iron out.
