Transvaginal Mesh Implant Causing Concerns and Complaints

The tranvaginal mesh implant was designed to treat female urinary incontinence and approved for use in 1996. In 2002, it was approved to treat female pelvic prolapse. However, industry studies show that the vaginal mesh is not providing the benefit for which it was designed. Worse, it’s actually causing serious complications including tissue erosion and vaginal shrinkage. The issue has caught the attention of the FDA which has called for a September meeting of experts to assess the problem and deal with issues and complaints involving the vaginal mesh.
